Welcoming Our 2025/26 Garry Spooner Scholarship Recipients

Treadwell Gordon is delighted to welcome two outstanding students as this year’s Garry Spooner Scholarship recipients: Lucy Trotter from Marton and Scarlett Blackburn from Ohakune, who both joined us in November 2025. They will spend the summer working across our offices before returning to university in March 2026.

Lucy and Scarlett stood out for their academic strength, strong ties to our region, and a shared commitment to contributing meaningfully to the communities that shaped them. Their applications reflected diligence, maturity, and a genuine desire to gain practical experience in a firm that values professional excellence, client service, and connection to the people of the Manawatū-Whanganui region.

Lucy, a fourth-year Law and Commerce (Accounting) student at the University of Otago, grew up in Marton and brings experience from Community Law Otago, tutoring in business law, and a summer internship with KPMG Wellington.

Scarlett, also in her fourth year at Otago studying Law and Commerce (Finance), was raised in Ohakune and has built a strong practical foundation through three summers at Winstone Pulp International and an exchange in Paris earlier this year.

We are proud to support Lucy and Scarlett as they continue their studies and begin their legal careers. Their enthusiasm, capability and genuine connection to our region embody the spirit of the Garry Spooner Scholarship, and we look forward to the contributions they will make during their time with us this summer.
