Emelye joined Treadwell Gordon in November 2023 as a recipient of the Gary Spooner Scholarship. Following her summer clerking role, she continued part-time while completing her final year of university where she graduated with a law degree and BA in International Relations and PoliticalScience. She has now been with the firm for approximately 1½ years.
Emelye’s experience spans a wide range of legal, public sector, and community-focused roles. She has worked as a law clerk at a boutique firm in Wellington, tutored first-year law students, and interned with both the New Zealand Police Prosecution Service and the New Zealand Institute of Intelligence Professionals. She has also volunteered with the WellingtonCommunity Justice Project, supporting participants in the Special CircumstancesCourt.
Born and raised in Whanganui, Emelye has a deep connection to her community. She is proud to have represented Whanganui at the national level, winning the New Zealand Secondary Schools Speech Competition and contributing to her school’s success at regional debating finals.
Outside of work, Emelye enjoys reading,travelling, staying active at the gym, and keeping up with international affairs and foreign policy.
