Scott and Brittany are part of our litigation team, each bringing a steady hand and practical mindset to help clients navigate complex legal challenges, whether that’s supporting families through the Family Court or guiding businesses through employment and civil disputes.

Scott works closely with families through some of life’s toughest moments. He’s often in the Family Court helping with relationship property, care of children, guardianship, and family violence matters. He also called in to support clients dealing with Oranga Tamariki and mental health issues, and regularly advises on Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act (PPPR) applications—things like Enduring Powers of Attorney and the appointment of Welfare Guardians.

Scott’s love of public speaking led him into litigation, but it’s the human side of family law that keeps him here. “We’re in court more than most litigators, and we’re working with people at their most vulnerable. It’s really important to be empathetic. I try to make the process less overwhelming by demystifying it - helping clients understand what’s ahead, what the way forward is, and how we’ll get through it together.”

Known for his calm, practical approach, Scott focuses on finding sensible solutions that help families move forward. He finds real reward in making the legal process feel manageable and meaningful - and seeing clients come out the other side with clarity and confidence.

Brittany’s litigation practice is built around getting results without unnecessary cost or complexity. She works across three key areas: estates and trusts, employment, and civil litigation, with a strong focus on achieving practical outcomes.

In employment matters, Brittany acts for companies navigating all areas of workplace disputes. Her approach is solution-first. Her civil litigation work focuses on commercial and property disputes. Whether it’s a contract issue, a breakdown in business relationships, or a property disagreement, Brittany is strategic, efficient, and outcome-driven. She takes the distraction of disputes off businesses and works to resolve matters quickly and effectively, keeping disruption to a minimum. She’ll take matters to court when needed, but knows that for busy business owners, time is money, and  early engagement can often avoid costly litigation.

In estate litigation, Brittany often works with beneficiaries who have been left out of a will, are protecting what has been left to them or feel they’ve been treated unfairly. These cases can be emotional and complex. Her role is to take the stress off her clients and help them reach a resolution that feels fair to everyone involved.

Brittany says, “When people come in feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to start, I can simply explain their position and create a plan to help get a fair result. Clients can leave it me to use my skills to advocate for them and negotiate or litigate a solution. I find this very fulfilling.”

Whether she’s working with a business owner, a property investor, or a family member caught in a dispute, Brittany brings clarity, confidence, and a steady hand. Her goal is simple: to make hard things easier - and to get the right result.

Together, Scott and Brittany bring clarity to complex situations and help clients move forward with confidence. Whether it’s a family matter or a business dispute, they’re here to make the legal process feel manageable, purposeful, and grounded in real solutions. They’re just part of the wider litigation team at Treadwell Gordon which brings depth, experience, and practical insight to every case we take on. If you’re facing a legal challenge and want a team that’s calm, capable, and focused on solutions, we’re here to help.
